Sage Pay Merchant Services - Website requirements

1. Products*

Either a full product range or a small sample of products/services must be available to add to a shopping cart/basket.

The products/services available on your website must match those listed in your application form.

An ‘order summary’ showing the total cost of the order including any delivery charges must be displayed in the relevant currency.

2. Contact Information

At least two ways for customers to contact your business should be listed on the website. They can include:

  • Email address.
  • Contact Us’ form.
  • Telephone Number.
  • Postal Address.

3. Terms & Conditions

Full Terms & Conditions must be available on the website and must include as a minimum:

  • Delivery policy (including estimated delivery timescales).
  • Cancellation, Refund and Returns policies.
  • Privacy policy.

Customers must ‘click to accept’ the T&C’s before they can proceed to payment.

  • The full legal name of your business (and company registration number if limited) should be listed.*
  • Security means used on the website should be listed. Usually it should be stated that card details are entered on a secure page and that they are transferred using SSL or another similar technology. If using Sage Pay’s ‘Form’ or ‘Server’ integration you can simply state; ‘We use Sage Pay to collect and process transaction information’ and provide link to our security policy (

4. Domain Registration*

The website domain should be correctly registered in the legal name of your business.

5. Security

3D Secure is mandatory for e-commerce transactions with Elavon. Sage Pay will contact you via email when 3D Secure is available for you to use on your account. Elavon will need to see a 3D Secure transaction has been processed and sent for settlement in order to see this requirement has been met.

If you are not using Sage Pay’s payments pages to collect card data, then your own payment pages need to be secure and request the 3 digit card security code (CV2) value from your customers.

Visa, Mastercard and 3D Secure logos should be displayed on your website. The logos are available to download in various formats from our logo download centre

* Items marked with an asterisk must be in place before your application can be submitted to Elavon for assessment. All other items must be in place within 60 days of your merchant account being opened.

Non-compliance after 60 days may lead to settlement being withheld. Continued non-compliance with the above requirements may lead to your merchant account being closed by Elavon."
